Iran volleyball team en-route to US

TEHRAN, May 24 (MNA) – Iran’s world-class volleyball team with 16 players has left Czech today to take on the United States in Galen Center of Los Angeles in the 2015 FIVB Volleyball World League.

Iran arrived in Finland on Sunday, May 10, to start the first leg of their 36-day trip prior to the 2015 FIVB Volleyball World League, with a training camp at the Olympic Training Centre of Kuortane.

Having been defeated by Finnish team 3-1 in both of its friendly matches, Iran then continued with another training camp in the Czech Republic from May 17 to 24, and won two friendly matches against the host team before leaving for the United States on May 24.

Under Serbian coach Slobadan Kovac, Iran won its last friendly against Czech ahead of its campaign in the 2015 FIVB Volleyball World League 25-23, 25-19, and 32-30 on Saturday.

A day earlier, Iran had crushed the host 25-18, 25-21, and 25-15.

In its first two matches in the 26th edition of the annual men's international tourney, 2015 FIVB Volleyball World League, Iran will take on the United States in Galen Center of Los Angeles on May 30 and 31.

Enjoying its third year in FIVB Volleyball World League, Iran will play against the United States, Poland, and Russia in Pool B of Group 1.

Thirty-two countries compete in the 26th edition of the annual men's international tourney, 2015 FIVB Volleyball World League, which started on May 16 and will end on July 19.
